Originally shuttered due to a shift in favor towards NGOs during the cholera epidemic of October 2010, the plant was reliant on subsidies to import hygiene products. However, a year of visionary marketing later, Savonnerie Reginald Auguste closed its laundry soap facility on December 31, 2011.

Eager to continue their journey of innovation, the plant owners transitioned into a dynamic research and development phase. Recognizing the exceptional talent within their trusted in-house team, they invited a select group of ex-employees to become co-owners and embark on a remarkable new industrial operation.

This collaborative effort infused the venture with momentum, fueling over a decade of dedicated research. HLab International's focus was twofold: developing a recycling organization that harnessed locally sourced raw materials from the meat industry for soap manufacturing, and leveraging their vast experience in laundry soap production to elevate the quality of their final product to a more marketable and sustainable line of exquisite bath soap.

Our operation provides a responsible alternative for disposing of these oils, preventing further damage to our soil and water systems. Additionally, our dedicated team educates formal and informal garage operators on the negative effects caused by the improper disposal of hydrocarbons, raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices within the industry.

Rendering Plant:

 HLab operates a state-of-the-art Rendering Plant that utilizes animal fats obtained from local slaughterhouses. This facility not only supplies the necessary fatty materials for our soap production but also produces valuable protein byproducts used as feed for poultry, fish, and non-bovine animals.
